Robben Island Is an island in Table Bay. The name is Dutch in origin and means "Seal Island" and is roughly oval shaped. Robben Island is most populary known for its use as an isolation prison for political prisoners. Some of the islands most popular prisoners were the past president Nelson Mandela and current president Jacob Zuma. Currently Robben Island is a tourist destination and has been declared a "World Heritage Site" in 1999. There are tours of the island and prison that are led by former prisoners of the island as your guide. Many South Africans call Robben Island Robbeneiland.

This nail design is inspired by South Africa's Flag. This flag was adopted on April 27, 1994 and was designed by State Herald Frederick Brownwell to represent the new democracy. A little history about this flag is that it came into thought in the 1990's when Nelson Mandela was freed from prison. The Three colours black, yellow, and green are also found in the  banner of the African National Congress. The other three colours blue, red, and white are part of the dutch tricolours and on the modern flag of the United Kingdom. This nail design is a beautiful piece of art and shows history at the same time with it's stylish geometric lines proves it to be a fantastic acessory with most outfits. I hope you enjoyed this journey to South Africa see you soon.
